Fishing/Stocking Reports

FISHING REPORT May 2017

Another 1550 Extended Growth (EG = 6-8”) Walleye fingerlings were planted into Lake Nancy this past October by the Wisconsin DNR Spooner.  The EG Walleye have been planted every other year.  We received 770 in 2012 and 1550 in 2014 under Governor Walker’s Walleye Initiative Plan for Northern Wisconsin.

The DNR has hypothesized that too many sunfish, crappie and/or bass in a lake maybe the reason that fresh hatched and small fingerling walleye cannot survive.  The DNR is now conducting tests to prove this theory.  Lake Nancy has a tremendous sunfish and crappie population and a large number of bass.  Your help in reducing these numbers this summer couldn’t hurt.  Go Fishing, Have Fun, Eat Fish.
